Sylvia and Jan
We are Sylvia and Jan and our children Liza (8) and Yannick (5). We are also our 3 Tervueren Sheperds 'Maroc, Aske and Baron' and all the other animals living on our farm. We are the lucky owners of cows, horses, chickens, pigs, sheep, cats, fish and other small animals.
Jan grew up on a farm, where he developed his great love and passion for different kinds of animals. At a very young age, Jan already had his own farm with cattle. Mostly sheep which he controlled with the help of his Border Collie.
Sylvia grew up in town and because she was always involved with animals, it was adviced she shoud find herself a farmer. A better advice could not have been given to her.
In 2001 Jan and Sylvia moved to France where they started a farm with milk cows. In France she had to put her German Shepherd to sleep. Sylvia and Jan wanted to have a new member of the family, but this time not a dog from a shelter. They contacted Thea (the aunt of Sylvia) and informed for a Tervueren puppy. At that time Sacha and Thea had 1 puppy which they intended to keep theirselves. But after Sylvia called, they decided to give the puppy to Sylvia and Jan. Because it was very difficult at that time to leave the farm, Thea and Sacha drove the pup to Sylvia and Jan in France. The coming of 'Maroc' in their lives was the first step in wanting to become a breeder.
In 2007 Jan, Sylvia, Liza and Yanninck returned to Holland and founded a new farm in Friesland. Soon Aske and Baron completed the household. Sylvia is willing to become a breeder of the Tervueren Shepherd, because she really admires the good qualitees of this breed. The main goal of Sylvia and Jan is to breed healthy and nice dogs. They love the idea to foresee other people with a lovely, intelligent and also healthy dog, families can enjoy. The role a breeder plays in breeding a social and healthy dog is huge and Sylvia and Jan are willing to do their very best to achieve best.
Sylvia contacted Thea and Sacha about her ideas and finally they deciced to start working together. This way, experiences can be exchanged, which benefits dogs bred in future. Although Sylvia and Jan will experiences good times and bad times being a breeder, they will never forget the most important aspect; the well being of each individual dog!
